IPA – International Police Association

The International Police Association (IPA) is the largest police association in the world, with over 372,000 members in nearly 100 countries, 65 of which have affiliated National Sections. It is present on all six continents and constitutes an independent community made up of members from various police services, both active and retired.

The IPA defines itself as an organization of friendship and cooperation and is characterized by not making distinctions based on rank, position, gender, race, color, language, or religion. Its motto, “Servo per Amikeco” (Service through Friendship), fully reflects its spirit and vocation.

Among its main objectives are:

  • To create and strengthen bonds of friendship among members of the police service.
  • To promote international cooperation in social, cultural, and professional areas.
  • To foster mutual assistance, the exchange of experiences and knowledge, as well as the development of cultural relationships.
  • To contribute to peaceful coexistence among peoples and the preservation of world peace.
  • To enhance the public image of the police service and increase the international recognition of the IPA.
  • The organization is firmly committed to the principles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, adopted by the United Nations in 1948, and holds consultative status with the UN Economic and Social Council, the Organization of American States, and UNESCO.

Locally, IPA Barcelona is the group representing this great community in our city, reinforcing the values of friendship, cooperation, and service that inspire the organization worldwide.
